How Hypocrites Pray

Hypocrites pray to be seen. They want to be admired, even if it's only by an audience of one. Jesus tells us that real prayer, by contrast, is enacted trust in one's heavenly Father. He warns against manipulative prayer, and tells us that attempts to shut off one's mind and experience God are not only misguided, but positively heathenish. Don't pray to manipulate God; pray because you trust Him.
