The Scheme of Guilt

In previous sections we explored the creation and existence of angels, and their nature, purpose and realm. Activities of the elect angels were explored to the limited extent they are mentioned in Scripture. Following that, we covered the fall of angels in their rebellion against God under the influence of Satan, and the results of that rebellion, both immediately and eventually. We have been exploring the unseen reality itself, in particular, the two kingdoms that are at war with each other, The Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Satan. We examined Hades and Hell, as well as the “Intermediate state” of Heaven and the “ultimate” Heaven, which is that most glorious existence described, prepared and promised for all of God's redeemed believers, for all of eternity. In tonight's session we continue the section on Spiritual Warfare by looking at the Scheme of Guilt that Satan uses in his attacks against the people of God. Satan knows that all humans, including Christians, are in fact, sinners, and he seeks to remind us of that truth to defeat our trust that Jesus has paid for our sin. Our sense of guilt can become debilitating if not dealt with properly. It can be properly dealt with only by “owning it” and fleeing to Jesus in confession, repentance and belief on the basis of what is written in God's Word. God's promises cannot fail!
