THE LORD'S PLEASURE IN PEOPLE

Preparatory Question: Am I to use or partake in the Lord's Supper?

I. WHO DO PLEASE HIM?

A. Certainly not every person pleases Him!

B. There are people who really do please Him: Prov. 16:7; Heb. 11:5

II. IN WHAT DO THEY PLEASE HIM?

A. They please Him because they fear Him as the LORD God

B. They please Him because they hope in His mercy as revealed in Christ

C. The possession of this fear and faith (hope) is pleasing to God and good for the soul

III. HOW CAN SUCH PLEASE HIM?

A. Upright soul detects nothing in themselves that would please Him

B. Yet God detects nothing that displease Him in them that fear Him and hope in mercy

PERSONAL QUESTIONS:

A. Do you find it difficult to believe this truth?

B. Do you find it difficult to know whether you truly fear and hope in Him?

C. Do you find it difficult to know whether you should attend the Lord's Supper?
