A Contest of Authority

Jesus's antagonists continue seeking to undermine his authority as King of the cosmos. In a cunning effort to discredit the Messiah-King, they seek to trap him in his words. Yet in so doing, their ultimate allegiance is revealed—and it's not to the Triune God of Scripture, but to their own glory, authority, and status. As Jesus responds to his enemies, we learn of his ultimate authority over all, ourselves included—and, how we should live in allegiance to him while being aware of whatever seeks to diminish his glory in our lives.
