Scripture charges gathered churches to practice a conspicuous ministry of public prayer and counsels us plainly and sensibly how to do this.
1.Use All Kinds of Prayer (1a)
A.Public, audible prayer from the gathered church commanded.
B.Supplications, prayers, intercessions, giving of thanks, etc.
2.Pray for All Kinds of People (1b–2a)
3.Remember the Blessings We Seek (2b–7)
A.The Church’s well-being.
B.The salvation of all kinds of people.
4.Let Only the Men Lead in Prayer (8–15)
A.“The adult males” specifically charged to lead in prayer.
B.“The adult females” urged to silence with respect to this ministry.
5.Offer Your Prayers with All Spiritual Integrity (8b)
A.“Holy hands” denotes men who live godly all week long.
B.“Without wrath or doubting [or, quarreling]” requires faith, holy love toward all, and a manifest desire for peace and church unity.
