Enemies Reconciled

19

The Believer’s Past
We were weak:
Rom 5:6 NKJV For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

Christ saved us when we were enemies of God. As sinners we were without strength.
We were powerless, we had no means of escape.

As a lost sinner we were powerless to defeat sin, powerless to escape death and judgement.
We were unable to change our sinful nature but in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

We were wicked:
Rom 5.6.. in due time Christ died for the ungodly. Ungodly refers to without reverence or fear of God.

The World today is ungodly. Australia it seems day by day grows increasingly in ungodliness.

I think most people in Australia underestimate how sinful they are.
The majority of Australians don’t know how serious sin is.

The majority of unsaved Australians don’t know that sin is so serious that it will separate them for all eternity in the Lake of Fire.

Paul uses the Word Reconciliation:

Bakers Evangelical Dictionary of Biblical theology says: Reconciliation involves a change in the relationship between God and man or man and man.

It assumes there has been a breakdown in the relationship, but now there has been a change from a state of enmity and fragmentation to one of harmony and fellowship.

Another writer states: There is a difference between reconciliation and forgiveness. In the cross, Jesus provided for the forgiveness of everyone. But not everyone will be reconciled with Him–because they won’t seek to be reconciled with Him.
