First Love . . . First Works: to the Church at Ephesus

Jesus is present in midst of your church and evaluates it, and that means every member in your church. In Revelation 2:1-7 he evaluated the church at Ephesus. They were a model church in many ways, but they had one very fatal flaw: they had lost their first love. If they do not repent, remember, and resume their first love, and first works born of love, Christ will come quickly and snuff out their light. What happened to the Church at Ephesus? Did her light go out? The real question is for you and your church today? Are you like Ephesus? Have you lost your first love? Do you have all the right action and orthodoxy, but have lost the reason and motive for it? Have you forgotten why you labor and strive? Or has your love turned in on itself, where you love your systems, your stuff, your stand, but have lost the One thing that matters, love of God in Christ?
