The Impossibility of Salvation

As Moses draws this historical section to a close he reminds the second generation after the Exodus of how God had already given them victory over their enemies on the East side of the Jordan. They must trust God’s action on their behalf. Here we find that the victories God gave to Israel match how God saves His people. The Israelites could never accomplish this apart from God’s sovereign activity; so we too can never accomplish our own salvation.
