True Repentance

Ezra 10 continues the story of the sin of God's people in not separating themselves from the pagan nations and also in marrying pagan wives. The story in chapter 10 introduces us to much neglected character in Scripture, Shecaniah, who encouraged Ezra and also called for true repentance among the people.
Though the ending of the book of Ezra is not what we might expect, the ending of Ezra is hopeful and encouraging ending, for it shows God's great work in the lives of His people that led to true repentance.
