James 5 Part 6: Powerful Prayers That Avail with God

The giants of the faith were all praying men. Men intimate in direct communion with God,
Prayers most answered: Are prayers of:
FAITH:
Knowing The Will of God:
Enduring In Persistence:
From a Holy Life:
Faith in our own desires, faith in our own wants, faith in our own schemes and plans in not faith, it is presumption!
David's good plans to move the Ark, were tainted by his trusting in his method. Was it Faith that things would go well? Uzzah died to steady it. Presumption? David missed the Lord's will in the means of movement. "The great evil of unbelief that often puts a stranglehold on our prayers is that we fear the Will of God for our lives more than we fear our own will" The name Elijah conjures all sorts of mental images of fire falling, miracles happening, boldness before kings, and resilient defiance against false prophets. But students of The Word know Elijah was a man who in one moment could challenge a king and 800 prophets, publicly and openly, to a epic showdown of fire and sacrifice, and the very next moment, flee in terror at the threatens of one Jezebel. A prophet and Man of God who was weak and wavered at times, he was not always valiant and courageous, but sometimes he was doubtful, fearful, and at one point even gave in to the sin of self-pity. A man of like passions, a similar constitution, the same principle of fallen Adamic nature at work in his flesh too. Elijah would need to deny himself, his comfort, and his opinions and attitudes in order to follow God.
