No Rest Until He Finished It

The testimony of Naomi about Boaz's determination to finish their redemption is particularly telling: "For the man will not rest until he has finished the thing!"

How much this reminds us of our Lord Jesus! He would not rest, until He had finished our redemption at Calvary!

When wicked men rebuked the Savior for healing on the sabbath, Christ informs His detractors that both He and His Father work seven days a week to carry out the Gospel promises. Many other times Christ refuted criticisms against Himself, declaring His determination to save poor lost sinners.

This business of God about saving His loved ones goes back to eternity past - for Christ was the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world. All through the Old Testament are descriptions of God's constantly working to bring to fruition the sacrifice of redemption.

And when Jesus came into this world in human flesh, even as a youngster, He "must be about" His Father's business! He was determined to rescue His sheep by dying to save us. He persevered though His work brought about declension and outrage.

Finally, when Gentiles began to seek the Savior, He declared that the hour had come at last - the glory of Calvary was at hand. And when it was finally done, He shouted that great cry of victory: It is finished!

Christ had not rested until the thing was finished!

Christ's determination to finish the work had been foretold: He would not fail nor be discouraged, until it was done. No amount of violence or pain could dissuade Him, for He set His face like flint to accomplish our redemption!

Now the thing is done, and our Boaz, has now sat down, because He has forever perfected His people!
