Power for Pain

Paul desires these three elements of knowing Christ: power (the kind that gives life through a relationship), partnership with Christ in the work of redemption by suffering with him, and being conformed to the pattern of his death (living like he died, selflessly, putting others’ interests ahead of your own in obedience to God). The destination is the resurrection of the righteous which can only be reached through the road of suffering with Christ.
