Saving Grace from the Cross

See the Son of the God, hanging between heaven and earth. Nailed to a wooden Roman Cross. Just as the serpent was lifted in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up. Being made a curse, for cursed is everyone that hangeth upon a tree. Being mocked and ridiculed. Blood flowed from the nails piercing His hands and His feet. There was a Crown of thorns burrowed into His gentle brow, and a sign nailed above His head, in mockery of Him…I hope you can see your Saviour there…and sing within your heart…See from his head, his hands, his feet….sorrow and love flow mingled down…did ere such love and sorrow meet, or thorns compose so rich a crown!
There being made the substitute for sinners. And there, even as He endured such contradiction of sinners against Himself. As the loss of blood from His wounds weakened Him, and the pain riveted His body…even then, the Compassionate Shepherd shows Divine compassion to one of His Elect Sheep.
