Blessed be God

22

Let us understand what God has done for us so that we will give him the praise he deserves. Notice the words the writer uses to describe his grace towards us. The blessings are primarily 'spiritual'; not only do they deal with the human spirit, they consist in the Spirit of God relating to us. As a result we are now 'in heavenly places'; the believer has become part of God's kingdom and lives where two worlds meet. 'All' blessings are included, and they are 'in Christ Jesus' who holds them for those who are united to him by faith. This involves each Person of the Holy Trinity. They originated in the Father's loving purpose and involve adoption into his family. It is by the blood of his Son that we are redeemed and have forgiveness. And the Holy Spirit puts this into effect in our persons and lives. Whatever background you may have had - if you are a believer in Christ that is evidence of a change brought about by the Spirit. The Father has loved you from eternity; the Son died for you; and the Spirit is giving you the benefits of that. That is who you are and where you belong - in fellowship with Father and Son; live accordingly.
