I. We know What Love Looks Like by God’s Love Toward Sinners (v.16a)

· Demonstrated it When Christ Died for us (Romans 5:8, 10; Ephesians 2:4-7)

II. God’s Love Demonstrated by the Believer in Two Ways: (v.16b-17)

A. In Self-Sacrificial love (v.16b)

· “Ought” understood to Mean “Must”

· In the Same Way We Love Ourselves (Matthew 22:39)

B. In Helping the Brethren, Who are in Need (v.17)
