The New Agreement

174 ( 129 | 45 )

God promises not only to restore Israel to it’s land, but to change His relationship to the people (a new agreement with Him), so that they will all have a personal relationship with Him (know Him personally). The promise in this chapter is given at a time when things were really bad. Suffering was occurring because of God’s wrath on people who repeatedly refused to repent. The promise that was given for the future would be better, however it would take 70 years. If we are trusting in the Lord, then 70 years may not be something that we will see, but we can rejoice that our children and grandchildren will see it. God is perfect and has every right to discipline us. God is willing to have a new relationship with us based on grace. God chooses to forgive our sins and have a relationship with those who believe. Through the New Covenant, it is possible for all of use to know God in a personal way. If we are part of the New Covenant, through Christ Jesus, we can know God as our Father.
