Thy Throne, O God

33

The main point of Hebrews 1:8-9, as the author continues to develop his case for the superiority of Christ over angels, is that Christ, the Son, is God. This is set in contrast to the truth that God has made them servants. The quotation from Psalm 45:6, interpreted as fulfilled in Christ, begins in Hebrews 1:8 with the direct address, "But of the Son he says, Thy throne , O God. The Son is divine and a divine King whose righteous rule "is forever and ever."
