Paul wrote to the Thessalonians because they were unsettled and alarmed, thinking that the Day of The Lord had come. He explained that the observable events would have to come first i.e.(1) the Apostasy (of Israel), and (2) the Antichrist (of Israel) being revealed. Before the Day of the Lord, Israel would forsake god and embrace the false Messiah.
