Church Order and Propriety - The Place of Women

This passage is the last of the four sections which comprise chapter 14 and the second part of Paul's closing instruction regarding spiritual gifts. This is arguably the most challenging passage in the context, if not the entire epistle. In it Paul insisted that women are to remain silent in the churches, and this injunction introduces several difficulties, not least its apparent contradiction of his previous instruction in chapter 11. This message examines Paul's directive to women, but as part of his overall instruction on spiritual gifts and their function in the Church.
