For Zion's Sake

The glorious promises of this passage apply to the year of the Lord's favor—the gospel age between the first and second comings of the Savior. The substance of the promise is that Zion, identified in the new covenant as the church (Hebrews 12:22, 23; and Galatians 4:24-28), "the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to sprout up before all nations" (61:11). This is because the Lord will give to Zion a new name (62:2), Hephzibah (the Lord delights in you) for the church shall become a praise in all the earth (62:7), being fruitful by the Lord's mighty right arm (62:8). Oh, that this glorious promise might be fulfilled in our day.
