Remember the Poor

Remember the poor. Is it the very thing you are eager to do? What about missionary families struggling overseas? Are you aware of the needs of the drug-addled homeless person and neglecting the needs of brothers and sisters who are trying to bring the Gospel to places like Argentina, India, and Italy?

The apostles were men. They had misdirected zeal at times. Not all of them thought alike. God made them different. When it comes to non-negotiables like the Gospel, we must stand united on every front. When it comes to matters of minor importance (who are the poor in this passage), we need to give some leeway.

We do not adopt tradition or forms of worship for the sake of being just like others, nor are we different just for the sake of being different. We simply know the Scriptures and act in accordance with the Spirit's leading. We are willing to give way to individual soul liberty. That is, we give the liberty we claim to others. We pray God's blessing on all who genuinely love the true Gospel and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Who needs your help in our Church? Who needs it in the broader Christian church? If you have more than others, be wise stewards. Don't wait for someone to tell you what to do. Give generously and joyfully. Communicate. Distribute to the poor. It is more blessed to give than to receive.
