Mystery of Iniquity
Series Mysteries of the Faith
95
The biblical term, “lawlessness” (or in the case of our passage where the term is translated “iniquity”) refers to the complete disregard of God and His law. “For the mystery of iniquity doth already work” - 2 Thessalonians 2:7a.
When someone falls away from biblical truth and becomes diametrically opposed to God, they are also referred to as “apostate.” When this anti-Christian spirit becomes so wide spread that it encompasses the entire world, then the Bible calls that period of time the “falling away” (2 Thessalonians 2:7) or literally, “the apostasy.” In that day, God will deal with wayward men by pouring His wrath upon the lawless and apostate world. This message looks at the Mystery of Iniquity.
