Exodus 34 is about reconciliation: forgiveness and restoration. John Piper says, "The sheer fact that Exodus 34 exists is proof that God is a God of mercy." And Philip Ryken observes, "Israel had broken the covenant. But God was willing to pick up the pieces of that broken relationship and renew his covenant with his people."
