What the Cross Says about Love

You grow what you sow and show what you know

We All
grow what we sow
know what we show
reap what we keep
live what we give
trust what we must
grace what we chase
Plow what we wow
Dig what we big
Feed what we need
Slave to what we crave

The evidence of God's presence and Spirit abiding in your life is not the absence of bad thoughts, feelings and desires. It's the evidence of a battle going on within us... over the war with the flesh. The flesh introduces and initiates a bad work but by the Spirit you don't have to finish what the flesh started (Galatians 5).

We can't love God or our neighbor, the way God requires, without Jesus. Think about it? The law can be summed up in one word — love. We couldn't, sufficiently, much less, perfectly, love, so Jesus had to die. Therefore, the law was given to the unrighteous to protect what we couldn't love, our neighbors, and bring us to Christ. The law was given for our own protection and that we would be restrained to be neighborly or suffer the consequences. For without the law men naturally cast off all restraint. But there are no laws against kindness... only against unkind acts. The cross is validation that without Jesus we cannot faithfully and fruitfully love God and our neighbors. What profit is that you love those that love you... that's not profitable because that kind of love is self motivated... it's still about you. We and our love needs Jesus.
