1 Timothy 1:8-11

THE LAW IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE GOSPEL

Main idea: "The law is good, if one uses it lawfully" (8)

1. The law is not laid down for the just (9a)

2. It is laid down for the unjust (9b-10)
   a) The lawless and disobedient
   b) The ungodly and sinners
   c) The unholy and profane
   d) For those who strike fathers or mothers
   e) For murderers
   f) For the sexually immoral
   g) For men who practice homosexuality
   h) For enslavers
   i) For liars
   j) For perjurers
   k) For whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine

3. In accordance with the gospel of the glory of the blessed God (11)
   a) With which I have been entrusted

Applications
We should preach the law as a sin-revealer and a Christ-pointer!
We should be discerning when people use the law wrongfully!
We should preach the Gospel!
We should show by our lives that we are justified people!
