Husbands like Christ

As we turn our heart to God's Word for instruction on a man's responsibilities toward his wife, consider that husbands are commanded to love their wife as Christ loved the Church, and how was that?
We love him, because he first loved us. ~ 1 John 4:19
Christ did not return our love when he came, he initiated and provoked it.
