Vanishing Beggar's Gold 17

Dad had told the family the exciting news; they were going for a holiday at the seaside. Serious about being on the holiday, the youngest daughter sets about secretly accumulating as much money as possible by doing as much work as possible. She certainly wants to be on the holiday.

On the morning when the family is due to leave for the beach, the youngest daughter is nowhere to be found. Doesn't she want to go with? Of course she does! She has saved months of pocket money, has sold some toys and clothes, and has crept out of the house while it is still dark, to wait for a bus at the bus terminal! Only, she is waiting for the wrong bus, and she doesn't have enough money for the ticket! Is this any way to get to the sea?

As ludicrous as this story sounds-- and it gets worse--this is exactly the thought behind the tale Paul tells behind the history of salvation in Romans 9:30-10:21.
