Daniel's Seventy Weeks

Daniel's prayer for the sinful nation of Israel is answered personally through the appearance of the angel Gabriel. He appeared to give Daniel insight with understanding, but God's answer through Gabriel would not take place immediately, it would take "seventy weeks" (490 years). During these 490 years God would focus His guidance and discipline on Israel. God was going to specifically deal with Israel's transgressions, disobedience and rebellion until all Israel would be saved. Sixty-nine of these "weeks" (483 years) have taken place. We are now living in the "times of the Gentiles" (Luke 21:24), waiting for the 70th week (final 7 years) to occur.
