The Foreknowledge of Christ
Series The Gospel of Mark
Foreknowledge is an attribute of God. When God compares Himself to the idols in Isaiah 44-46, He highlights His ability to declare the end from the beginning in contrast to the false gods. In Mark 11, Jesus demonstrates intimate knowledge of the colt on which He will ride -- where it will be, when it will be there, that it will be tied, that it will have never been ridden, etc. In doing so, Jesus demonstrates His majesty and divinity. Being God, Christ foreknows all things because He fore-ordains whatsoever comes to pass. In this sermon, we discuss the sovereignty of God in which He governs all things without being the author of sin. We also consider the ramifications of His foreknowledge for unbeleivers and believers alike. Particularly the comfort it brings to believers.
