Two Examples Of Faithful Service, Part 1

A few years back, a series of humorous posters were published and they became very popular. Their purpose was to poke fun at all of the motivational posters which had sprung up around office buildings like wildflowers in springtime. One poster said, "It may be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning for others." I Cor. 10:11 also speaks of the negative example of the rebellious Jews in the wilderness, "Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come." But not all examples are negative. In 2:5, we were told to have the same mind as Christ regarding humility and submission. And the Apostle Paul also points to himself as an example in I Cor. 11:1, "Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ." We now come to the first of two more positive examples; the example of Timothy – the faithful and trustworthy pastoral apprentice of Paul.
