A Remnant - Chosen By Grace

154 ( 93 | 61 )

We hear this week, from Romans 11:1-12, that despite their disobedience and unbelief, Israel has not been rejected by God. He continues to hold his hands out to them in each and every generation and he has always kept for himself a remnant, chosen by grace.
What we might perceive to be a failure of God's word, or the rejection of his people, is in fact God's purpose of election working out. Israel's stumbling over Jesus Christ, has brought salvation to the Gentiles. In turn, this has evoked jealousy among God's old covenant people, such that they might seek once more, God's blessing and favour.
There is much hope we can have for those who are yet to receive Christ, whether Jew or Gentile, for God has not yet finished his great plan of salvation. His hands remain open and held out to them, even in their disobedience, that they might not continue in their unbelief but receive his grace and mercy through faith in his Son.
