The Plague of Locusts Part 2
Series Exposition of Exodus
After warning Pharaoh about the destruction to come, Moses stretched out his hand so that every herb of the land would be consumed by locusts. God even gave fearful anticipation of the destruction to come by having an east wind blow all day and all night before the locusts came in the morning. Never in the history of the world, either before or after, were there locusts such as these. The ground was covered with them and the sky was dark with them. Nothing green remained on plants throughout the land of Egypt. Pharaoh called Moses saying he had sinned against the Lord and Moses and asked Moses for forgiveness. Pharaoh knew that the earth was the Lord's and asked Moses to entreat the Lord so that the locusts would be removed. God sent a very strong wind that drove the locusts into the Red Sea, but God hardened Pharaoh's heart and the children of Israel were not allowed to go. Pharaoh saw the judgment of locusts as death, but even facing death was only enough for Pharaoh to say he was sinning and not to turn him to obedience.
