This introduction to the Tri-Vocational Prophet, Amos, a contemporary of Jonah, Hosea, and Isaiah, begins with the burden of the Lord against Syria, Philistia, Tyre, Edom, Ammon, and Moab. In this message we also see the conclusion drawn that God's people are good at imposing God's rules on others, but not on ourselves. We also learn that God is not satisfied with formal religion and actually hates religion used to oppress the unfortunate and defend the status quo.
