Jesus' Presence Supersedes Fasting

In Matthew 9 Jesus is using several healings and conversations as teaching points. In today's passage we see Jesus challenging the Disciples of John the Baptist who asked why Jesus' Disciples didn't fast.

His answer is that since Christ is the fulfillment of the Covenant, it is not time to fast. Intriguing thought that the right time to fast is when Jesus is absent... during His Three Days in the tomb. We do consider the time and place of fasting today.
