What do Christian Scientists mean when they talk about the terms we find in the Bible? How does Christian Science define Christian terms like creation, devil, demons etc.? Today were going to look at more terms and definitions that both Christianity and Christian Science use, and how the definitions differ.
• Creation – The product of Divine Mind (another title for God). Creation consists of the sum total of God's thoughts. All that is not of God, for example sin, sickness, death, and evil, are not part of the creation and therefor, do not exist. Christian Scientist do not believe God created a material universe.
• Death – Death is not real. It is only an illusion that our body is fooled by.
• Devil – The Devil is not a real being. The Devil of the Bible is nothing more than evil, bad thoughts and error. The Devil can be simply believing in sin, sickness and death.
• Evil Spirits – Nothing more than false beliefs. Every demon or evil spirit spoken of in the Bible is interpreted as nothing more than false beliefs.
• Flesh – The false idea that your life, intelligence and substance exist in the flesh. The flesh is believed to be an illusion.
• God – Also goes by the names the Father/Mother God, The Divine Principle, and the Divine Mind. The Christian Science view of God is a pantheistic one. God is said to be all in all. He is all knowing, present everywhere, and all powerful. It is argued that since He is all good and all in all, everything that is not good, does not exist.
