A Willing Sacrifice for Sin

592 ( 333 | 259 )

In the first portion of Hebrews 10 the writer's focus is still fixed on the Day of Atonement which Christ has fulfilled in his own sacrifice. Not only has Jesus perfected his people and sanctified them, he is also the means by which we enter into the presence of God. In reality, the idea of being sanctified cannot be separated from the idea of the presence of God. In all this it is the willingness of Christ's self-offering that is of great significance. All other OT sacrifices were unwilling (and unwitting) victims. Jesus was both fully aware of what he was doing and completely willing to do it.
