Proclaiming the Unknown God

81

Paul's preaching in the market place got him into some trouble when he proclaimed Jesus and the resurrection. The philosophers thought Paul's gospel was birdseed and the idolaters thought he was preaching strange gods. As a result, Paul was dragged before the Council of the Areopagus to give an account of his preaching. Taking his stand in their midst, Paul proclaimed the Unknown God to these Greeks and concluded his sermon by calling them to repentance. This message explores Paul's critique of idolatrous false religion and idolatrous philosophical thinking.
