Conquest At Midnight

Deep in the bowels of a Philippiian prison, Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises to the Lord at midnight. Suddenly a quake shook the ground and busted the prison doors open and loosed the prisoner's chains. When the jailer felt and saw these things he was overcome with the fear of the Lord and desperately asked the missionaries about salvation. The missionaries preached the gospel to him and the Lord granted him faith unto salvation. Before sunrise, the Lord had vindicated His missionaries, converted a virulent opponent of the gospel, and put His servants back into the field of Christian mission.The Philippian jailer not only represents a trophy of grace but also symbolizes the fact that the kingdom of darkness will not be able to prevail over the kingdom of Christ even when it looks like the gospel in bound in chains.
