Samuel Called of God

INTRODUCTION: Chapter 1 recorded the miraculous birth of Samuel
Chapter 2—prayer of Hannah (1 Samuel 2:1-10)
Chapter 3 records the spiritual famine of this time—the time of the judges.
Eli’s sons, because of their wickedness, made a mockery of the priesthood and the sacrifices. Yet, their father, Eli, only scolded his boys.
In chapter 2, God sent a man with a warning from God to tell Eli that his house (that is, the family line of priests) had been rejected by the Lord (1 Samuel 2:27-36).
The scene was set for the call of Samuel. God found in Samuel a man through whom He could once again work.
