God is the Audience

184 ( 145 | 39 )

When we gather for worship, we must remember that God is the audience and not us. Our goal is not be comfortable, the goal is giving God praise and worship. Worship is something we offer to God, it is not designed to entertain us. In this passage we see that king Hezekiah, knelt down in worship, that is not typical. There are many times when we need to fall down on our knees to worship the Lord. God is sovereign and He deserves to be fully worshiped. Giving is part of our worship. When we invest in obedience, God rewards us. Everything we have belongs to God. Giving is a reminder that what we have, has be given to us by the Lord. God is the One who receives our worship. The universal sign of surrender is the raising of hands, also when showing love a child raises their hands to their parents. Likewise, we should raise our hands to worship the Lord. When we come to worship God, we need to give Him what He likes. Worship is not something that we watch others doing but is something we do for the Lord. We should desire to be worshipers of the living God. The goal is not our comfort, but His glory.
