I. Peter and John before the Council 1-22

  1. Peter preached a lengthy sermon (4:1-4)

  2. The power of Peter and John was from The Holy Spirit v. 8 and
    the Name of Jesus v. 10 (5-10)

  3. The council that met included the ones who condemned Jesus.  v.11
    

Psalm 118:22 is applied directly to them

  1. They boldly proclaim Jesus as the only way of salvation  v. 12.
    
  2. The spiritual blindness of the leaders   (13-14) 
    
  3. Perplexed, the counsel finally orders them to stop preaching  (15-18)
          
    
  4. They refuse and let it be known they would continue preaching and 
     teaching – no matter what the cost.   (19-22)  see Daniel 3:14-28
    

    II. Prayer that Avails with God 4:23-31
