The Result I am Expecting pt.2

634

The believer is in need of the enlightening power of the Holy Spirit as long as they live in this world. We can always learn and live more. The New Testament teaches us to be thinking about our glorious future. We should set our hearts on eternity are because:

• It brings us comfort (Romans 8:18 / 2 Corinthians 4:16-18)
• It gives us courage (Hebrews 11:13-16, 23-27, 32-40)
• It makes us Christlike (Hebrews 12:1-2 / 1 John 3:1-3)
• It is commanded (Philippians 3:12-21 / Colossians 3:1-5)

We may not know a whole lot about heaven, or the eternal state, but we do know what we need. We don’t need some new revelation or out of body or return from the dead experience. Those are not authoritative or reliable reports. Paul visited heaven and was not allowed to tell of what he saw, which sets the rule for us (2 Corinthians 12:2-4). We do know that we will be with Jesus (John 14:1-3), and we will be like Him (1 John 3:2). There will be no problems (Revelation 21:1-5), and there will be wonderful pleasures (Psalm 16:11), some created especially for us (Matthew 25:34). Of course, God will be our portion, which is the most important thing (Psalm 73:26).
