Psalm 41

Examining the introductory material of Psalm 41, we find David's reflections on God's showing mercy to him because he was merciful to others. He recounts a situation of sin, a deadly sickness, enemies, and a betrayer. We ask the question of whether the psalm is Messianic of Christ because of His quoting of verse 9 in relation to Judas' betrayal. We also find a chiastic structure to the psalm which points to the dramatic situation in the middle of the psalm.
