God's people are hungry like beggars and thirsty like desert nomads. For what does their appetite crave? Jesus said, "righteousness". He spoke of the righteousness that would result from His own fulfillment of the Law and satisfaction of justice. Their consuming interest is in the righteousness God imputed to justify them at the Cross.
