2. The Crisis of Identity

So often in life, our experiences cause us to question what we know to be true of God. This psalm expresses a conundrum such as this honestly with God. Asaph, the psalmist takes us through the stages of 'orientation, disorientation and reorientation' - the reality of life with God, as he pours his heart out to the Lord, and seeks answers to his questions. It is only the honest encounter with God, as he enters the sanctuary of God that he sees things clearly and from the true, kingdom perspective.
