Spiritual Depression Part 13

Looking at the Waves

Matt 14:22-33

What do we see about Jesus in this text?

How does Peter start off? How does it end?

Did the waters change from the time Peter had stepped out of the boat to when he started having issues?

What does Jesus say the problem is?
-"You of little faith, why did you doubt?"

Some of us have a Peter temperament. Describe Peter for me-

In the case of Peter who produced his doubts?

Many times our own doubt is a source of depression. What is the primary purpose of Apologetics that applies here?

Faith and doubt are more compatible then we might think. Does the Lord say Peter has faith or not?

How do we not become mastered by our doubts?

The Christian faith begins and ends with a knowledge of the Lord and His Work

So what does all this mean? Let me propose a question for us What is the great antidote to depression?

John 8:31–32 - Free from what? Depression, Anxiety, Fears...

Next time we are struggling lets NOT be Peter here and lets get our focus off the waves and onto our Lord

Maybe for some of us here we struggle with depression over things God has already solved but we forget God already healed us and made it right.

I would suggest most of our depression if not all of it is because we like Peter look back and look around

This week lets commit to believe Philippians 1:6, Romans 8:38–39

As a final remark how can we not close with what happens when Peter cries out? Jesus didn’t let him sink. God rescues the seeker. God will not let his children sink and drown
