Divorce: Rarely Permitted

The Lord Jesus Christ significantly tightened the rules concerning divorce from Deuteronomy 24:1-4, granting permission only when some form of sexual immorality has taken place.

The Greek word found in Matthew 5:32 and 19:9 is the word, porneia, from which we get the word pornography. It is the broadest of all Greek words for sexual sin and includes any and all sexual acts that are not between a man and woman who are married to each other.
