Remembering the Homeland

Psalm 137 is a lament over the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple, the heart and soul of Hebrew worship. But it also contains a note of defiance against the Babylonian captors, and prayer for judgement on them. In the trials of life, we should not forget where we came from and where we are going - this brings encouragement and renewed determination to persevere in the Christian life.
