A MAN WITH THREE LIVES
TEXT: 2 Chron. 13:1-22; 1 Kings 15:1-8
SUMMARY: In Abijah's brief reign of only 3 years, he lived three lives: the one his people could see, the one he himself saw (through the eyes of his deceived heart), and the one only God could see.
I. ABIJAH AS THE PEOPLE SAW HIM – A NATURAL LEADER (2 CHR. 13).
A. A Military Leader, 2 Chr. 13:2-3.
B. A Political Leader, vv. 4-8.
C. A Spiritual Leader, vv. 8-12.
II. ABIJAH AS HE SAW HIMSELF – A POWERFUL MONARCH (2 CHR. 13:21).
A. He Proudly Built Upon His Father's Managerial Legacy.
B. He No Doubt Accepted the People's Accolades.
C. He Accepted the Presumed Amenities of His Office.
III. ABIJAH AS GOD SAW HIM – A DISLOYAL SUBJECT (1 KI. 15:1-8).
A. God's General Blessing in Old Testament Times Was Through the Nation of Israel, the Line of David, the Priesthood of Aaron.
B. God's Personal Blessing Required a Personal Relationship with Him.
