Two Cities, Two Seeds, Pt. 2: The Glory of Man and the Glory of God

We live in a fallen world characterized by God's mercy because He is good and God's judgment because man is so bad. We must understand that God allows a tension to exist in this fallen world between the common grace God gives to all (Matt. 5:45) and the special grace given only to His people. Until the Consummation of history at the final return and triumph of the Lord Jesus Christ, there will be two kinds of people who make up two very different cities or kingdoms. All people are made in God's image and create culture with their giftedness according to the Creation Mandate of Genesis 1:26-28, yet the City of Man accomplishes this special task ultimately for selfish and self-centered ends rather than the glory of God and the furtherance of God's Kingdom. History is an outworking of God's decree, there is nothing that happens by accident; it has all been planned according to God's Sovereign wisdom. History is an outworking and realization of the Holy War that exists between the City of God and the City of Man, the Seed of the Woman versus the Seed of the Serpent.
